Portraits that Speak
Exhibition by Davyd Chychkan

25.11–24.12.2020

Portraits that Speak is Davyd Chychkan's personal project created within the framework of the artist-in-residence program at Bereznitsky Art Foundation.
This project is a part of his on-going research on the texts of Ukrainian intellectuals of the modernism era. For Portraits that Speak Davyd created a series of alternative hryvnia banknotes (Ukrainian currency). On these "banknotes" Chychkan depicted portraits of Lesya Ukrainka and Ivan Franko as well as some quotes from their works, which, according to the artist, reflect their political views based on social and economical equality.
